Chad in Doric Wilson's Street Theater - June 9, 2011

Doric Wilson's Street Theater

In honor of Gay Pride 2011, and of TOSOS (The Other Side of Silence) founder, playwright and Stonewall veteran Doric Wilson, The LGBT Community Center is presenting a benefit performance of Street Theater, directed by Mark Finley, Thursday, June 9, 2011.

Street Theater is Doric Wilson's award winning satire about Stonewall, and became central to the Gay Theater canon with hundreds of productions around the country. TOSOS Artistic Director Mark Finley revived the play at the NY Eagle in 2002-2003 to great success, the New York Post saying there was “no funnier show now running.” After a successful reading at The Center last June, TOSOS is back, with a cast featuring (in order of appearance) Christopher Borg, Rebecca Nyahay, Eilis Cahill, J. Stephen Brantley, Carlos Ponton, Jeremy Lawrence, Oliver Houser, Chris Andersson, Michael Lynch, Brad Wells, Ben Strohmann, Chad Austin, Desmond Dutcher, and Jonathan Cedano.

Thursday, June 9, 2011 - 7 p.m. (Doors at 6:30 p.m.)

Les Contes d’Hoffmann at The Metropolitan Opera

A powerhouse team joined forces for Offenbach’s psychological fantasy - James Levine conducted, and Tony Award® winner Bart Sher (South Pacific) returned after the triumph of his Met Barber of Seville to direct. Inspired by Kafka, Sher described his production as “a magical journey in which the character works out different manifestations of his psyche.” Joseph Calleja sang the tour-de-force title role, opposite Anna Netrebko as the tragic Antonia and Alan Held as the demonic four villains.

Chad performed in this fantastic production December 3, 2009 - January 2, 2010.

La Damnation de Faust at The Metropolitan Opera

When it premiered last season Robert Lepage’s production amazed audiences through its use of virtual scenery, interactive video, and aerial acrobatics. Ramón Vargas, Olga Borodina, and Ildar Abdrazakov brought Berlioz’s stunning score to life, with James Conlon conducting.
